So here is my new Restyle Wide Hips model in a size 30. Usually I’d go for a size 28, but I wanted this one to fit my hips and underbust more than anything. My Mystic pinches something awful and I find myself loosening it up or unlacing completely after a few hours.
This corset measure 36”-30”-44”, which is about bang on my measurements. The center front is 12”, which normally would be far too long for me. But I think the waist is a bit higher, so it sits just about right. I have it laced to about 34” for seasoning, so there’s still a fair bit of room in the hips particularly, but it is incredibly comfortable.
I took off a bit of the binding to have a look at the fabrics. The corset is made of two layers of strong cotton, and the binding has an extra layer of cotton fused in with glue (so if the busk crunches, it’s just the glue loosening). I can’t feel the waist tape, but it feels strong enough to not need one. It’s. A 6 panel corset, with internal boning channels. As for bones, there are 20 1/4’ well tipped spiral steels, and it has a 1” wide busk.
First impressions? I’m very very pleased. For the price, I’m incredibly impressed by the quality. I’ll keep you posted on how it fares throughout seasoning!
